Several petitions were filed in the Punjab Haryana High Court regarding reservation and other issues in Panchayat elections in Punjab. On which the Punjab Haryana High Court has pronounced a decision today.
The High Court rejected all the petitions filed against reservation in panchayat elections and said that wherever the votes of the members of a family are in different wards, they should be rectified within five days. Along with this, orders have been issued to the Punjab government to settle the matter of chulla tax and arrears of the candidates today.
A few days ago, a bench headed by Justice Sureshwar Thakur of the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the government to present the complete record of reservation in the elections in the court on Thursday. In this case, Sucha Singh and Anya, residents of Gurdaspur, alleged that before issuing the election notification regarding reservation, there should have been a gazette notification of reservation, which has not been done till date. It was alleged that the government notified these elections in haste. These errors have occurred while giving.
The Election Commission also challenged the letter issued for the certificate without reason. The petitioner had said that the election program that has been released has been done against the prescribed provisions. If elections are held through this program, there will be a flood of petitions in the court. In such a situation the Punjab Government should be ordered to conduct the elections as per the prescribed provisions.
